Subject: Update on Scout

Hey Brien

Long time no see. 2 years in fact. Just wanted to wish you happy holidays & send some current photos of Scout. He is our happy, busy, clever family dog. Since he turned 2 we have found him to be somewhat protective of the family -Not aggressive, just cautious of outsiders. He talks alot, to let us know what he needs or wants. And even though he is about 65lbs he still believes he is our lap dog and loves to have as much personal contact as we will allow. He is very attached to his family and follows us from room to room as we move through the house. He even brings his bed with him if he finds the floor to be too cold.

We were wondering if there will be another litter like him. Is he considered 1st gen or 2nd generation?

Hope you are well.
See Scout's updated Photo Album showing his development from puppy to maturity.

Enjoy the pics of Scout helping pick our Christmas tree this year. These were taken last Sunday.

I'm happy to tell you all about Scout! He is a fantastic family dog that does not pick a favorite or favour one master. He is smart and therefore extremely independent with a mind of his own. This has proven to be challenging when training. We do not have a fenced in yard so reinforcing his boundaries has taken some time but if you ask him to bring the blue ball -he does. And like any dog he responds well to positive reinforcement in the form of treats. He is always gentle when receiving them though and you can put your hands into his mouth while he is eating and remove food without any argument. He just goes back to the bowl for the next bite.

He likes to be with people and he loves to be handled. Human contact is most important to him and he will take it whether you want to give it or not. He is often under foot because he needs to be close. He likes to snuggle and still tries to be a lap dog even at 60 lbs. We waits in the window for each of us to come home at the end of the day and knows what time to start looking. He has a good memory and indentifies the people who will love him and talk to him and play with him even if he hasn't seen them in some time. It's actually amusing to us and charming to those whom he chooses. They like to be welcomed into our home in such a lovely way.
He loves our son and is always trying to sneak upstairs to lay with him at night. It is wonderful to see the bond they have when they are cuddled on the couch before bed or in the early morning.

We aren't able to go anywhere without being stopped a million times. What a beautiful dog! What kind is he? We are proud to tell people of his heritage and why.

Rebekah,

Thank you for the photos. They are very good and Scout looks great - a brown Weimaraner for sure!!

Please let me know how he is doing. Can you comment on his development, character and relationship with you and especially your children? Does he stay at home or does he like to wander?

I really like to know these things as it helps me describe the dogs to new visitors to the site. I only get to see puppies! Its wonderful to see your pics of Scout as he gets bigger and matures. What a noble looking dog. What do people comment when they see him? They must wonder what he is.

Brien

Notice

Descriptions and predictions of a puppy's temperament and physical characteristics when mature are based on our experience. When a puppy matures its actual physical and character traits may differ.

Prices are subject to change without notice. Puppy values decline as puppies get older. Price reductions for unsold older puppies represent the value lost to an owner for not being able to raise and train a puppy from infancy. Price reductions for older puppies do not reflect a reduction in the quality of the puppies sold nor do lower values for older puppies reduce the value of the higher priced puppies sold for optimum adoption dates.

In our experience, there is no disadvantage to adopting an older GBSD puppy. The Weimaraner breed is naturally able to bond with its master and family. In our experience purchasing an older puppy at a discount has little or no effect on one’s ability to train or socialize the dog. Purchasing an older puppy will not inhibit strength of the bond that will develop between you or your family and the puppy when treated with love, care and attention. Older puppies are often house trained and have had all their vaccination shots.
